Judging from the Blogger help group, there are things people complain about that are in fact working, if only they just took the time to explore the new features and options more carefully.

But for advanced users who want more control over the raw HTML template code or need to publish their blog via FTP to a remote host, it'll be a little while before they have access to those "features."

Still, even if not all the features are working yet, there are some pretty cool things developing on Blogger beta.

I think it will definitely increase their user base by allowing people with no HTML experience to customize their blog.

Announcement at Blogger's help group:

http://groups.google.com/group/blogger-help-customizing/browse_thread/thread/767515270457d0e5/#

http://beta.blogger.com/

So far, there's been some good comments about it, and some that aren't so flattering... It's beta software, and I think people are a little quick to give it some bad marks because it may not have all the features they want.

I had worked on a script to produce categories for hosted Blogger blogs at moshare.com. But since there were rumors that Blogger was going to come up with their own categories in the "near future" I didn't think it would be a priority to keep working on it...

They do have something that resembles categories in the form of tags/labels. But it's not quite what I'd expected for categories on Blogger.

We'll have to wait to see how their new platform evolves through the beta phase...

Competition between blog platform services is pretty rough. I'd like to think that people who use bloghi.com do so because they have found it useful. Could be that it's an easier blogging experience or they prefer bloghi's features...

A lot of people have multiple blogs. Maybe bloghi users could post something about bloghi on their other blogs to promote it...

I know bandwith can be very expensive if you're on the wrong hosting plan. Could moving to another web hosting service help reduce the bill?

I like the HTML/post editor. The poll creator service seems cool, but haven't been able to register yet...
It's interesting to compare the various features on different blogging platforms. I've looked at WP and Blogger mostly. All have advantages and disadvantages. I still prefer Blogger.com for my own reasons.
